Sudan: The Founding Alliance calls for unity and the preservation of the social fabric.
The Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis) has announced a strategic measure to strengthen security and institutional organization in areas under its administration. It declared its intention to create a « new national army » and unify its various formations and forces under a single regular military authority, in order to strengthen stability and ensure the safety of civilians.
The announcement was made at the end of the fourth session of the Alliance’s Governing Council, held in Nyala, the capital of Southern Darfur State. The session was chaired by the commander of the Rapid Support Forces and head of the Council, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), and in the presence of his deputy, Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North.
The final statement of the Governing Council said that the decision to establish this unified military force is mainly aimed at « actively working to strengthen security and stability and to address security challenges ». Observers believe that this change will end the proliferation of factions and promote a unified and organized structure, contributing to the protection of society and respect for the rule of law. This orientation coincides with the body’s desire to complete the establishment of the structures of what it called the « peace government » in all the regions concerned, by focusing on improving living conditions, fighting corruption and providing essential services such as the rehabilitation of health and education infrastructure and access to drinking water for all.
On the political level, the body adopted a comprehensive document proposing a political solution to the root causes of the Sudanese crisis. It reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of the founding Charter of Sudan and the Transitional Constitution, in order to achieve a just and lasting peace that puts an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people.
As part of the strengthening of settlement efforts, the coalition leadership approved the creation of a « political reference mechanism » to oversee peace negotiations and talks. It has also launched a broad political movement, including internal advocacy among all Sudanese national forces committed to peace and civilian transition, as well as external engagement through active and constructive participation in regional and international forums to support stability and end the conflict.
The forum concluded its meeting by insisting on preserving the social fabric and combating hate speech and divisions among the Sudanese people and calling for unity and respect for common national values. It also stressed the need to protect civilians and vital infrastructure and to ensure respect for international humanitarian law, considering that the top priority remains the safety of citizens and the return to normalcy.
