Guinea’s Cauridor secures $2 Million to bridge Africa’s remittance gap

Guinean fintech Cauridor has raised $2 million in equity investment from Proparco, the private sector arm of the French Development Agency, to scale payment infrastructure connecting global money transfer operators to Africa’s fragmented last-mile networks.

The investment, announced at the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, is part of Cauridor’s ongoing Series A round, which includes Flourish Ventures and LoftyInc Capital.

The company has now raised $13 million in total and targets a full Series A close by the end of 2026.

Founded in 2022 by Oumar Barry and Abdoulaye Bah, Cauridor builds backend infrastructure that connects international operators Western Union, MoneyGram, RIA, Taptap Send, and Sendwave to local payout networks, including mobile money platforms, banks, and cash agents.

Rather than building a consumer app, Cauridor solves the backend problem making cross-border remittances slow and costly.

The platform routes transfers through the correct local channel, reducing delays and failures.

The funding follows a $3.5 million seed round and will support engineering, integrations, and expansion across West and Central Africa.

The transaction signals a broader shift: development finance institutions are increasingly betting on infrastructure-focused fintechs, not just consumer-facing apps.

With the remittance market of Africa valued at $54 billion, Cauridor is positioning itself as a critical player.
